Cosmic New Year and the Burning of the Goetheanum, 1922/23 – A Picture – by R. Jacob Harlow

“Let me say in the first place that already for a long time now the Anthroposophical Movement has not coincided with the Anthroposophical Society, but that the Anthroposophical Society, if it would fulfill its task, must really carry the whole impulse of the Anthroposophical Movement.” Rudolf Steiner, GA 219, 30.12.1922

I behold the Building – The World Builds – and the Building becomes Man

On the eve of the year 1923, the Goetheanum, a modern temple of the Mysteries, was set ablaze by an act of arson. Less than an hour before the fire was discovered, the anthroposophists had sat within its living, sculpted forms, its colored windows and painted double-cupolas which embodied the mysteries of the cosmos and man – macrocosm and microcosm. Rudolf Steiner gave a lecture where the entire path of anthroposophical cognition – from its epistemological roots to the fruits of supersensible Imagination, Inspiration, and Intuition – was summed up as the genuine spiritual communion of the modern human being, having significance not only for the human ‘I’ itself, but for humanity, the earth and the cosmos as a whole: […]

A Short Introduction to the Topic of Anthroposophical Methodology

– G. A. Bondarev

Rudolf Steiner is known as a scientist of the supersensible world. The task which he accomplished is without precedent in human history. Thanks to him humanity has for the first time received a complete picture of a unified sensible-supersensible reality.

Knowledge of the true character of reality fundamentally changes generally accepted conceptions about development. On the stage of historical development beginning at a certain time the progress of science with its strict methods of the knowledge of sensible-physical reality, and with it the broad social progress of the whole life of humanity contributed to the acutely individualized character of the development of man’s personality, the crystallizing-out of its I-consciousness, of the capacity for self-determination out of which was born the striving for freedom.

Today this personality through the further course of the cultural-historical process has been brought to a new task of development which significantly exceeds in complexity all that which it has had to deal with thus far. The process of the further individualization of man takes place on a qualitatively new level, it of necessity requires the metamorphosis of the very form of human […]

Anthroposophical Research WIKI

Welcome to the Anthroposophical Research Wiki, an online, user-built resource for the indications of Rudolf Steiner’s spiritual science. As an endeavor of the Initiative for Anthroposophy, the Wiki is intended to become an extensive collection of topical summaries containing all known references of Rudolf Steiner to a given topic. In addition to these indications each Wiki will consist of an encyclopedic entry, the dates of writings/lectures, references to source material, and a categorization of quotations according to their source – published, archival, anecdotal, etc. In creating each Wiki the effort is always to provide enough contextual material that the meaning of an indication speaks for itself as it was originally intended. In this way, both the unique insights and descriptions as well as the various points of view with which Rudolf Steiner approached a given topic can be clearly surveyed and further research of the surrounding material can be easily pursued. The hope is that the Anthroposophical Research Wiki can further a high standard of spiritual-scientific research amongst anthroposophical peers and in such a way that is both rigorous and transparently accessible – a step, if you will, to […]

Translation Efforts

One of the Intiative for Anthroposophy’s central activities is bringing works of essential importance to Anthroposophy into the English language and thereby making them accessible to most of the world. Among existing works not currently available in English, books and essays of Gennady Bondarev stand out both in their quality and their chosen topics. These alone are thousands of pages rich with content both textual and visual. Given the immensity of this task and the current absence of any funding, a great deal of labor in the translation, editing and publishing of these works has been invested by those whose only return is a spiritual one.

We seek those who are able and willing to contribute to this cause in some way, either by participating in the translation and preparation of texts, or in supporting those so dedicated financially. The work will continue regardless, the only question is how much time and effort can be freed up from other paying work. Below find a list of active translation projects and links to various ways to donate (if you have a preference of which active project you wish to support, please […]
